Acquisition editor

Pappy Vino

An acquisition can be edited via the Acquisition editor window:

This editor is accessible by selecting an acquisition in the Acquisitions grid of Pappy Vino, then:

  1. By double-clicking on an acquisition in the Acquisitions grid.
  2. Via the Edit... item in the context menu of the Acquisitions grid, when an item in this grid is selected.
  3. Via the Edit » Edit selection... item in the main menu of Pappy Vino when an item in the Acquisitions grid is selected.
  4. Via the Edit... button in the upper right corner of the information panel of the selected acquisition.

The Acquisition editor allows to modify the data of an acquisition previously entered in Pappy Vino. The proposed fields are:

Merchant : the name of the merchant where the wine was purchased.
Code : the merchant code identifying the wine.
Quantity : the number of bottles acquired.
Date : the purchase date; to input a date, you must enable this field by checking the accompanying box.
Price : the unit purchase price (i.e. per bottle).
Awaiting reception : the acquisition will be finalized at a later date.
Source : URL of a web page describing the product (usually a page on the merchant's website).
Rack(s) : the rack(s) where the bottles are stored in the cellar, as well as where the new bottles will be stored if their quantity is increased.

Please note the following specifics regarding these fields:

  1. The Rack(s) field lists racks allocated to the acquisition's bottles as well as free racks in the cellar.
  2. The number of selected racks must match the value in the Quantity field.
  3. The button to the right of the Source field is only enabled when a value is entered in that field. It triggers the computer's web browser to display the specified page.
  4. When the Awaiting receipt field is checked, the Rack(s) field is not accessible because the bottles cannot be racked in the cellar (see Acquisition awaiting reception for more information on such acquisitions).
  5. Among these fields, only Merchant and Quantity are mandatory. If Awaiting reception is not checked, racks must be selected in the Rack(s) field, one per bottle according to Quantity.

Allocating racks

When the Awaiting reception box is not checked, the Rack(s) field lists (in bold and italics) the racks allocated to the bottles of the acquisition, as well as all the free racks in the cellar in order to allocate these to the new bottles of the acquisition if the value of the Quantity field is increased.

When racks are selected in the Rack(s) field, the Quantity field is automatically updated to reflect the number of selected racks. The same occurs when the Quantity field is modified: the number of selected racks in the Rack(s) field is modified accordingly.

Note that if racks currently assigned to the bottles of the acquisition are deselected in the Rack(s) field, these bottles must be removed from their rack since Pappy Vino will consider the racks free. The same applies to selected free racks: bottles must be inserted into them since Pappy Vino will consider them occupied.

Acquisition awaiting reception

When the Awaiting reception box is checked, the acquisition is designated as awaiting reception of the wine bottles:

An acquisition awaiting reception cannot be assigned wine racks because the bottles of wine associated with it are considered not currently available. For more information on acquisitions awaiting reception, consult this document.

The list of Rack(s) is not displayed when the acquisition is awaiting reception, since the bottles are not yet available and therefore no rack can be assigned to them. Once they are received, the acquisition can be edited to uncheck the Awaiting reception box; racks may then be assigned to the received bottles.
